RIO DE JANEIRO – TotalEnergies, Petrobras and Casa dos Ventos Holding have signed a memorandum of understanding concerning joint opportunities in renewable energy and low-carbon hydrogen in Brazil.
The trio will jointly study opportunities for investing in offshore and onshore wind, solar and low-carbon hydrogen in the country.
Casa dos Ventos Holding, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Casa dos Ventos, has a 12-GW portfolio of wind and solar energy that it plans to develop over the next few years.
Petrobras and TotalEnergies already collaborate in exploration and production assets in the Mero, Iara, Atapu and Sépia fields, and have maintained an R&D partnership in Brazil since 2017.
They will assess opportunities in line with the guidelines of Petrobras' Strategic Plan, which seeks diversification into low-carbon businesses.
If the prospects appear viable, the parties can sign binding agreements to commit to investments.
