OLDENZAAL, the Netherlands—KENC has started fabrication of a flange monopile upending tool for Van Oord, following work on a design contract.
The system, weighing just under 75 metric tons, will be capable of lifting of monopiles with a diameter of 7.5 m to 8 m for offshore wind turbine foundations. It will have an SWL of 1,600 mt.
It is due to be delivered in December 2023 and should become operational at the start of next year.
