PARIS, France – bp has awarded DORIS a five-year framework agreement for engineering services to support bp’s global offshore wind projects.

Over the past 20 years, DORIS has supported more than 60 offshore wind projects across 17 countries, with a combined capacity of more than 90 GW. Its services across the full project life cycle include concept and feasibility studies, FEED and owner’s engineering services to fixed and floating offshore wind farms.

For this agreement, DORIS will provide engineering for concept development, pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design with its strategic partner Turner & Townsend, as bp seeks to build 50 GW of net renewable generating capacity globally by 2030.

In February of this year, bp and Deep Wind Offshore jointly pursued offshore wind opportunities in South Korea. Under the agreement, bp acquired a 55% stake in Deep Wind Offshore’s early-stage offshore wind portfolio, which included four local projects with a potential generating capacity of up to 6 GW: Abalone, Admiral Lee, Rising Sun and Western Wind.

More recently, bp gained the rights to develop two bottom-fixed offshore wind projects in the German tender round, both in the North Sea sites, over areas 130 km and 150 km offshore in water depths of about 40 m. The company estimates the combined potential generating capacity at 4 GW.

Last year bp and Marubeni agreed to establish a partnership targeting opportunities in offshore wind and potentially other decarbonization projects, including hydrogen. They announced plans at the time to jointly apply to acquire a 49% stake in a wind project offshore Japan, with bp establishing a local offshore wind development team in Tokyo.
