LONDON — The UK government has issued development consent for the Hornsea Project Four Offshore Wind Farm application.
The development will be located within the western area of the former Hornsea known as Zone 4, under the Round 3 offshore wind licensing arrangements established by The Crown Estate.
Ørsted Hornsea Project Four submitted its planning application in September 2021.
According to Ørsted, Hornsea 4 is the first offshore wind farm to be examined alongside a derogation case including environmental compensation.
The company has now begun reviewing the details of the consent order and will work with interested parties to take the project forward.
At its closest point, the development would be 69 km from the Yorkshire coast in the southern North Sea. The offshore area of up to 492 sq km could accommodate up to 180 wind turbines.
