PARIS, France — EDF Renewables and Deep Wind Offshore are collaborating with Stavanger-based Moreld Ocean Wind as they bid to supply a floating solution for the Utsira Nord offshore wind development in the Norwegian North Sea.
Since 2021 EDF and Deep Wind Offshore have been co-operating on a competitive bid for the Utsira Nord tender, with one of the focus areas being the development of a supply chain in Norway.
If they are successful, Moreld Ocean Winds will be their preferred supplier for floating wind foundations. Its Ocergy floater concept is a steel, three-column construction said to provide good stability, fast assembly and low weight.
Deep Wind Offshore CEO Knut Vassbotn said, “Moreld Ocean Wind’s solution is the most cost effective and sustainable of those we considered. It also represents the Norwegian way of doing things, with Moreld providing technology, engineering, procurement and construction.”
