ESBJERG, Denmark — PGE Group and Ørsted have awarded an EPC contract for four 375-MW offshore substations for the Baltica 2 wind farm development in the Polish sector of the Baltic Sea.
A consortium between Semco Maritime and PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C) will manage the program, supported by subcontractors ISC Consulting Engineers and Hyundai Electric.
Baltica 2, due to be commissioned by year-end 2027, is 40 km offshore. It will have a capacity of about 1.5 GW generated by 107 wind turbines.
The scope of the EPC awards comprises design, engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the four substations, which PTSC M&C will manufacture in Vungtau port in southern Vietnam.
Semco Maritime will design, procure and install high and medium voltage, SCADA and auxiliary systems supported by ISC Consulting Engineers and Hyundai Electric. The contract will be executed in 2023-2026.
In addition, Semco Maritime will lead the consortium with PTSC M&C; the two companies are also collaborating on the Hai Long offshore wind project, initiated in 2022.
“Our goal is to build new, green generation capacities in the Baltic Sea with a planned total of 2.5 GW by 2030, which is of great importance for strengthening Poland’s energy security,” said Wojciech Dąbrowski, president of the management board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.
