SCHIEDAM, the Netherlands— Jan De Nul Group has awarded Huisman to supply a 3,500-mt monopile spreader bar to support installation of offshore wind turbines.
The system is designed to handle monopiles with the largest diameter and length currently available, Husiman said, and this is its third Spreader Bar order.
It is deployed in combination with the recently delivered 3,000-mt Huisman leg encircling crane onboard the Voltaire vessel and the 5,000mt Huisman tub-mounted crane on Les Alizés.
Automated sling handling of monopiles improves safety, the company added, by reducing the number of personnel needed on deck.
The remotely controlled system is powered by an on-board battery pack with integrated charger system for different external charging supplies.
