OSLO, Norway – Fred. Olsen Windcarrier will deploy one of its new Tern class vessels to install 72 offshore wind turbine generators at RWE’s Thor 1-GW wind farm in the Danish North Sea.
The selected vessel will have a new and upgraded all-electric crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 metric tons, and further modifications, including to the vessel’s jacking system.
Thor, 22 km from Thorsminde off the west coast of Jutland, will be Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm to date and should reach full operation in 2027. Offshore installation of the turbines should start in 2026, managed from Esbjerg.
