LONDON – Britain’s government has opened a consultation on future regulatory arrangements for offshore hydrogen.
It is seeking views on proposals for a ‘first layer’ of arrangements for transport and storage.
The consultation, due to close on May 22, proposes extending the regulatory remit of the North Sea Transition Authority to also become the licensing and consenting body for offshore hydrogen storage and pipelines transport in UK waters.
The government is targeting 10 GW of low-carbon hydrogen production in the UK by 2030.
