NORWICH, UK — TerraSond and Benthic, both in Acteon’s Data and Robotics division, will perform geophysical and geotechnical survey work for two planned floating wind farms northeast of Aberdeen.
BlueFloat Energy and Renantis Partnership joined forces to develop Bellrock and Broadshore in response to last year’s ScotWind licensing round. Once operational, they will have respective capacities of 1,200 MW and 900 MW.
Sudhir Pai, executive vice president with Acteon Data and Robotics Division, said, “Our early involvement will provide detailed engineering and data interpretation services to help all project participants understand the seafloor composition and structure. The integration of these studies under a single contract minimizes interfaces.”
This will be TerraSond’s first offshore wind site investigation for TerraSond in the North Sea. Benthic will deploy its seafloor drilling service, the portable remotely operated drill (PROD), on both projects.
The Ocean Fortune vessel, under long-term charter to TerraSond, will acquire the geophysical survey, with support from Acteon in Aberdeenshire and UTEC’s data center in Livingston.
