Equinor, EnBW explore offshore wind initiative

EnBW has committed to spend €4 billion ($4.26 billion) in renewable energy activities by 2025, mainly on wind and solar energy projects.

STAVANGER, Norway Equinor and EnBW are considering joint offshore wind developments.

EnBW has successfully invested nearly €5 billion ($5.32 billion) in its Renewable Energies activities since 2013, and it has committed to spend a further €4 billion ($4.26 billion) by 2025, mainly on wind and solar energy projects. The company’s portfolio includes the Baltic 1 offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea.

In January 2020, it commissioned Germany’s largest offshore wind power project, EnBW Hohe See and Albatros (609 MW combined), and it will connect the 900-MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm to the country’s grid in 2025.

Elsewhere, EnBW and bp are developing the Morgan, Mona and Morven wind farms in the Irish Sea with a combined capacity of 5.9 GW.
