DEME US division to install Empire Wind array cables

Equinor and bp joint venture has contracted DEME Offshore to transport and install inter-array cables for the Empire Wind 1 and 2 offshore wind farms off the US east coast.
The cables will have a total length of more than 350 km (217 miles). One vessel from the company’s fleet will install it all in two campaigns.
DEME operates the Living Stone vessel and expects to take delivery shortly of a second DP3 cable installation vessel called Viking Neptun.
Once constructed, Empire Wind 1 and 2 will have a total installed capacity of more than 2 GW.

In January 2022 Equinor and bp announced the finalization of the purchase and sale agreements with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority for Empire Wind 2 and Beacon Wind 1.
