NIGG, UK — Global Port Services (GPS) will provide various services to Seagreen Wind Energy for the Seagreen wind farm development, 27 km from the Angus coast in eastern Scotland.
Seagreen is a joint venture between TotalEnergies (51%) and SSE Renewables (49%), due to become operational next summer with a power capacity of 1,075 MW.
The final turbine foundations are currently arriving at Nigg to be prepared for installation offshore.
GPS will perform project management and technical support for site enabling works and pre-assembly setup, and the company also will provide crane support, SPMTs, equipment and quayside services to support Vestas Offshore and BMS Heavy Lift, which are responsible for the onshore assembly and offshore installations.
Simultaneously, GPS is managing storage, marshalling and logistics for the 114, 95-m-tall "yellow jacket" foundation towers for Seagreen at the South Quay at the Port of Nigg, under contract to Subsea7 subsidiary Seaway 7.
According to GPS, this is the first major infrastructure and pre-assembly contract of its type to be handled at the Port since the new purpose-built East Quay was opened in July, offering 160,000 sq m of adjacent laydown areas, storage and assembly yards with dedicated warehousing and client project offices.
