Bleutec says the support from EnCap will enable the company to quickly develop its Jones Act wind turbine installation fleet.

HOUSTON – Bleutec Industries, builder, owner and operator of Jones Act-compliant offshore wind turbine installation vessels (WTIVs), has secured a significant capital commitment from EnCap Investments. Bleutec management will invest alongside EnCap in the company.
Houston-based Bleutec is focused on its Binary Marine Installation Solution (BMIS), which it says enables a cost-effective alternative to the more expensive heavy-lift jackup WTIVs being employed by the offshore wind sector for foundation and turbine installation.
The BMIS will be built around a piling installation vessel (PIV), a WTIV light (WTIVL) and service operation vessels (SOVs). The PIV will feature a gantry crane, capable of lifting up to 4,500 metric tons, a hydraulic hammer and deck space for the piles. The WTIVL will install wind turbines of up to ~22 MW on the foundations, and the SOVs will provide the necessary accommodation and crew support services.
In this executive Q&A, the president and CEO of Bleutec explains further how the company's vessels are designed to tackle the current installation obstacles facing the offshore wind sector.
