COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Cadeler has ordered its second F-class offshore wind jackup installation vessel from COSCO Heavy Industries in Qidong, China.
As global demand rises for offshore wind capacity, a requirement is emerging for increasingly larger wind turbines and vessels with associated capacity.
The F-class is a hybrid design allowing the vessel to be converted relatively quickly from a foundation installation unit to a wind turbine generator installation vessel.
Cadeler has also commissioned two X-class vessels; these and the first F-class order, also under construction in Qidong, will all sail under the Danish flag.
The second F-class vessel, to be delivered in 2026, will have similar specifications to the first F-class vessel, including a deck space of 5,600 sq m, a payload of more than 17,600 t.
All four vessels will be able to transport and install seven complete 15-MW turbine sets per load or six sets of 2XL monopile foundations.
Cadeler’s strategic partners for the developments include GustoMSC NOV, Kongsberg, Huisman and MAN Energy.
In August the company signed a firm contract with Ørsted, and it also has a long-term agreement with another client to book an F-class vessel from 2027 to 2030.
