Bristol, UK Rovco has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Horizon Ocean Management (HOM), a joint venture between Mitsui and Japanese wind turbine maintenance specialist Hokutaku.

The MoU relates to provision of through-life subsea asset integrity and balance of plant survey services for Japan’s offshore wind sector.

The two companies will jointly assess the country’s needs and develop asset integrity programs to support maintenance of infrastructure.

They plan to draw on Rovco’s experiences with projects in Europe, combined with HOM’s understanding of Japan’s local market and regulatory requirements.

Last year the government announced it was targeting 10 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and installations with a combined 30-45 GW by 2040, along with a cost reduction target for the industry of 8 to 9 yen/kWh between 2030 and 2035.
