HEEMSKERK/WIJK AAN ZEE, the Netherlands — Jan de Nul Group has installed power cables for two TenneT wind farms in the Dutch North Sea.
The inter-tidal trenching vehicle Moonfish laid the sea cables for Hollandse Kust (north), and the cables for (west Alpha) both on the seabed and at the foot of Heemskerk beach.
The first of the two front cables (West Alpha) will sailed from South Korea before the end of the year, with cable laying due to start on arrival.
Earlier, Jan de Nul also buried the last two of four sea cables (220kV) for the connection of the Hollandse Kust wind farm (West Alpha).
At Hollandse Kust (north), the transformer platform is in place 18.5 km from the coast of Egmond aan Zee. Behind the dunes near Heemskerk/Wijk aan Zee, the four sea cables will be connected to the cables that will soon supply electricity to the HV substation along the A9 road in Beverwijk.
Before the end of this year, TenneT plans to test the fiber-optic connection for 'north', which was laid with the sea cables, and the HV connection.
