MUNICH, Germany — Siemens Energy is supplying a control system for EnBW's 900-MW He Dreiht wind farm under construction 90 km offshore in the German North Sea.
The company is responsible for control technology for switchgear and secondary systems and the central IT network, including cybersecurity.
The cybersecurity tool should ensure the plant complies with legal requirements for critical infrastructure. Due to its size, He Dreiht is subject to special guidelines from the German Federal Office for Information Security; it is set to start operations in 2025.
In August 2020, grid operator TenneT commissioned Siemens Energy to provide the HVDC transmission technology, designed to ensure the low-loss transmission of power to shore
The company’s Omnivise T3000 SCADA control system integrates the automation of switchgear and various secondary systems and also establishes the interface to the wind farm controller. It allows EnBW to respond quickly to changes in power demand, with flexibility in electricity production.
Omnivise T300O, which is certified under the IEC 62443 cybersecurity standard, also includes the IT infrastructure for connecting the secondary systems according to the German BSI Kritis regulation.
