LA CIOTAT, France— BW Ideol and Taiya Renewable Energy plan to cooperate on floating offshore wind projects off Taiwan.
Their twofold agreement initially covers development of a 50-MW pilot project, in response to a tender announced by the Taiwanese government last month.
BW Ideol has the EPCI contract to design, engineer, build and install the floating foundations based on its proven Damping Pool technology. Pending a final investment decision, construction could start in 2025.
Taiya is a local renewable energy development specialist focused on site selection and development of offshore wind farms, delivering environmental impact assessment and communication with local communities to comply with the policies of competent authorities.
It recently formed another partnership with France’s EDF Renewables to jointly bid in Taiwan’s planned auction for the Huan-Yang bottom-fixed offshore wind project.
