ESBJERG, Denmark  Hai Long Offshore Wind Project has awarded an EPC contract for two offshore substations for the Hai Long 2 and 3 wind farms off Taiwan to a consortium of Semco Maritime and PTSC M&C.

Last October the consortium was named Preferred Supplier. The two companies will now embark on detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the two offshore substations including jackets, which will be fabricated at PTSC M&C’s yard in Vungtau City, Southern Vietnam.

The structures are due to be installed offshore in 2024 with commissioning completed in 2026, with an installed capacity of 1,044 MW.

The wind farms will be located 50 km offshore in the Taiwan Strait, and they will help Taiwan’s government realize its goal of 5.5 GW installed offshore wind capacity. This is a joint development between Northland Power, Yushan Energy and Mitsui & Co.
