AARHUS, Denmark  Dominion Energy, which is developing the largest offshore wind farm in the USthe 2.6-GW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, has selected Systematic’s SITE software to ensure the safety of personnel working in and around the 112,800-acre commercial lease area.

SITE is a cloud-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) tool for planning transfers to and from wind farm assets, providing a situational overview for location tracking and monitoring the exact location of personnel working offshore.

Dominion Energy operates a 12-MW pilot project with the first two offshore wind turbines in US federal waters. The construction of this wind farm in 2020 was managed by Danish developer Ørsted, and during the construction process, Dominion Energy learned how SITE ensured a safe workplace offshore.

The construction of an additional 176 turbines is planned to begin in 2024 and be complete in 2026, providing enough clean and affordable energy to power up to 660,000 Virginia customers’ home.

SITE software is used by energy providers such as Ørsted, RWE Renewables, Vattenfall and Copenhagen Offshore Partners. SITE is used at 32 offshore wind farms to manage logistics and safety compliance. About 30,000 offshore workers have been inducted with SITE to work at offshore projects. These numbers make SITE the most popularly used marine coordination software globally, according to Systematic.

The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project is set to be fully constructed in 2026.
