AARHUS, Denmark  Vestas announced it is constructing a project on the Dutch North Sea coastline, and for the first time, the company is installing its EnVentus onshore turbine on offshore monopiles.

As the turbines are located directly on the shoreline, the project is neither onshore nor offshore but near shore.

The wind park Maasvlakte 2 is installed on a manmade land extension within the Port of Rotterdam and consists of 22 turbines, including 12 EnVentus turbines built on offshore basements.

Vestas stated, "With only 15 months between signing the contract and starting the installation, Maasvlakte 2 is a testament to the adaptability of our turbine technology, the brilliant work of the project team, and the great collaboration with our customer Eneco and our subcontractors."

Eneco builds Windpark Maasvlakte 2 on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat.

The project is scheduled to be concluded by year-end 2022.
