ZAMUDIO, Spain—Siemens Gamesa has secured an order and service agreement for 60 of its SG 14-222 DD offshore wind turbines for the 882-MW Moray West wind farm development offshore northeast Scotland.
The wind turbines will each have a capacity of 14.7 MW. All the 108-m long, 222-m diameter B108 IntegralBlades will be manufactured at the company’s offshore blade factory in Hull, northeast England.
After leaving the preassembly site at Nigg in the Cromarty Firth northeast Scotland, installation 22 km offshore in the outer Moray Firth should start early in 2024, followed by first power later that year.
Cadeler will transport and install all 60 turbines using its Wind Orca vessel, equipped with a new main crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 metric tons at a radius of 40 m and a hook height of 160 m above the main deck.
