JDR puts funds in place for UK subsea cable complex

JDR Cable Systems has secured agreement for financial support under the U.K. government’s Offshore Wind Manufacturing Scheme for its new subsea cable manufacturing complex in Cambois, near Blyth, northeast England.

BLYTH, U.K.  JDR Cable Systems has secured agreement for financial support under the U.K. government’s Offshore Wind Manufacturing Scheme (OWMIS) for its new 69,000-sq-m subsea cable manufacturing complex in Cambois, near Blyth, northeast England.

The company aims to start construction this summer and to start operations in 2024, adding that the £130 million (US$157 million) UK Export Finance Export Development Guarantee, part-supplied by OWMIS, will allow it to create 171 new local jobs, in addition to safeguarding 270 jobs at its existing subsea manufacturing facilities.

JDR is adding HV export and long-length array cables for renewable energy projects to its existing capacity and product capabilities.
