OSLO, Norway – Aker Carbon Capture and Norwegian research institute SINTEF have entered a collaboration agreement concerning development of carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) technology.
This is said to be “a strategic interaction on a non-exclusive basis,” the aims including more widespread deployments of CCUS and the formation of more projects, especially for CO2 capture.
Both parties will assess opportunities to develop new capture technologies, share knowledge, and collaborate to generate new ideas.
Aker companies have worked with SINTEF on carbon capture for over 25 years.
They jointly developed a solvent-based capture technology with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) as part of the eight-year SOLVit program.
Aker Carbon Capture offers a proprietary, amine-based carbon capture technology, which is being deployed in the Langskip CCUS project in the North Sea.
