Siemens Gamesa turbines to power Gode Wind 3 offshore Germany

Ørsted has commissioned Siemens Gamesa to supply the wind turbines for the 242-MW Gode Wind 3 project in the German North Sea.

ZAMUDIO, Spain Ørsted has commissioned Siemens Gamesa to supply the wind turbines for the 242-MW Gode Wind 3 project in the German North Sea.

This will be the first installation of the company’s SG 11.0-200 DD turbines in German waters. The turbine features a 200-m (656-ft) diameter rotor using the 97-m (318-ft) long Siemens Gamesa B97 IntegralBlades.

The company will deliver 23 wind turbines for Gode Wind 3, which will be located 40 km (25 mi) from shore due north of the island of Norderney on the German-Dutch border. The nacelles will be produced in Cuxhaven, Germany. A five-year service agreement is included in the firm order.

Gode Wind 3 is expected to be fully commissioned in 2024 and serve around 250,000 German households.
