PARIS – DORIS and Nantes-based Lhyfe are stepping up their collaboration on offshore hydrogen production.
They plan to develop what they claim will be the first floating wind turbine for integration with a hydrogen production system, and to pursue larger-scale opportunities for their solutions.
Earlier, Lhyfe’s Bouin site in Vendée, France, started producing the first few hundred kilos/day of carbon-free green hydrogen. Results will help finalize development of the partners’ proprietary solution NereHyd, combining Lhyfe’s experience in green renewable hydrogen production with DORIS’ floating wind turbine solution Nerewind.
Their goal is to deploy Nerewind, which incorporates a hydrogen production facility into the floating structure supporting a wind turbine, for applications ranging from small-scale 10-MW wind turbines to large-scale wind farms with several hundred megawatts of capacity.
Budget for the project, including production of the first prototype (to be completed in 2025) will be close to Eur60 million ($68 million).
