COPENHAGEN, Denmark – Ørsted has chosen Cadeler A/S as a preferred wind turbine generator installation vessel supplier for the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 projects in the German North Sea.

The award covers the transport and installation of a minimum of 48 11-MW turbines.

The company is expected to deploy its installation vessel Wind Osprey, which by the time the project is set to start, will have a new and upgraded main crane.

According to Cadeler, the intention with this award is to sign a formal binding contract once the mandatory standstill period has expired. This is expected to be completed later this year.

Upon completion, the Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farms are expected to have a combined total capacity of more than 1 GW. Subject to Ørsted’s final investment decision, the projects are expected to be fully commissioned in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
