Ardersier port site to host concrete construction for floating wind

BW Ideol has signed an agreement with Ardersier Port Authority in northeast Scotland, giving it exclusive and long-term access to the port for manufacture of concrete floaters for floating wind projects.

In addition, the two parties may create a serial production line dedicated to delivery of locally manufactured floating wind substructures based on BW Ideol’s Damping Pool technology.

The Ardersier site offers 400 acres of port area with access to a 2.2-km (1.37-mi) quay and 350 acres of statutory harbor authority, and according to BW Ideol, is viewed as one of three sites on the UK’s eastern coast capable of serving as an offshore renewable energy hub port.

Dredging works will start next month with the port targeting completion by August 2022.

BW Ideol is part of the Floating Energy Allyance, which has submitted applications to the ScotWind leasing process.
