Offshore staff
PAPENDRECHT, the Netherlands – Sembcorp Marine Integrated Yard Pte Ltd. (SMIY) has contracted Iv-Offshore & Energy b.v. to supply engineering and procurement services for the high voltage direct current (HVDC) offshore converter platform (OCP) for RWE’s Sofia wind farm in the central North Sea.
Sembcorp Marine is responsible for the design, construction, installation and commissioning of the OCP, which comprises a 10,000-metric ton (11,023-ton) topsides and a 7,000-metric ton (7,716-ton) jacket foundation structure.
As SMIY’s engineering subcontractor for the balance of plant installation, Iv-Offshore & Energy will provide detailed design for both the topsides and jacket and procurement of topsides auxiliary equipment.
Platform construction is expected to start at Sembcorp Marine’s yard in Batam, Indonesia, in 3Q 2021. Offshore installation is slated to be completed by the end of 2024.
Located 195 km (121 mi) off northeast England, the 1.4-GW Sofia offshore wind farm is expected to power the equivalent of nearly 1.2 million UK homes.
