PERTH, UK – The first five jackets for the Seagreen offshore wind farm have arrived in the Port of Nigg in the Cromarty Firth, according to SSE Renewables.

The components were welcomed to the Global Energy Group facility by project owners TotalEnergies and SSE Renewables, along with main contractor Seaway 7.

The 1.1-GW Seagreen offshore wind farm will be 27 km (17 mi) off the Angus coast in the North Sea.

Jacket installation is expected to start in October and last about 12 months. Once complete the 114 Vestas V164-10 MW turbines will be installed.

SSE Renewables is leading the development and construction of the joint venture project, supported by TotalEnergies, and will operate Seagreen on completion. When complete in 2023, Seagreen is expected to be Scotland’s largest, and the world’s deepest, fixed-bottom offshore wind farm.
