NOV to replace crane on second Cadeler installation vessel

HOUSTON Cadeler has contracted NOV to upgrade the wind farm installation vessel Wind Osprey with a new, large capacity leg crane.

The heavy lift crane for the Wind Osprey has the same specifications as its sister crane on the Wind Orca.

The new crane will have a lifting capacity of 1,600 metric tons (1,764 tons) at a radius of 40 m (131 ft) and the main hook at 159 m (522 ft) above the main deck. The existing NOV crane has a lifting capacity of 1,200 metric tons (1,323 tons) at a radius of 31 m (102 ft).

The crane replacement on the Wind Osprey is scheduled to start in 4Q 2023 and will be completed in conjunction with the crane replacement on the Wind Orca. The replacement is scheduled for completion in 1Q 2024.
