SAN DONATO MILANESE, Italy – Saipem has introduced a technology that can be used to power green hydrogen production, including on offshore platforms.
SUISO combines renewable energy sources such as floating wind, floating solar, and marine energy in a single system.
Together or individually, these can power electrolyzers installed on existing offshore platforms for production of green hydrogen. These could be facilities undergoing conversion after having reached the end of their life-cycle as oil and gas installations.
Oxygen resulting from this process can be harnessed for various areas uses, including aquaculture or seaweed production.
SUISO’s first application is the Agnes offshore energy hub that Saipem and QINT’X plan to construct off the coast of Ravenna, eastern Italy.
