Offshore staff
HORTEN, Norway – Equinor has awarded Vissim a framework agreement covering support for offshore wind projects.
Vissim will provide digital marine optimization solutions, with an immediate call-off for the Dogger Bank A, B, and C wind farms in the UK North Sea, each with 1.2 GW installed capacity.
According to the company, offshore wind farms are associated with huge volumes of operational data, ranging from weather forecasts and vessel/ personnel locations, to HSE and competence qualifications, work orders, asset status, and radio communication.
Vissim assembles and presents this data in an actionable format, conforming with industrial design and corporate cyber-security standards.
Nicholas Dent, managing director – Global Wind at the company, said: “The system is about getting the right planning and real-time data to the right people, in the right format, at the right time. This enhances collaboration between the many players in the construction and O&M ecosystem.”
The aims are to manage risks in a changing environment and to help developers and operators avoid repetition, deviations, or delays.
To date the company has supported offshore wind construction projects in France, Scotland, and Japan.
On the Norwegian continental shelf, Vissim continuously monitors more than 60 rigs and 5,000-6,000 vessels on behalf of Equinor and other operators.
