FORNEBU, Norway – ScottishPower Renewables has contracted Aker Solutions and Siemens Energy to provisionally supply the high-voltage, direct current (HVDC) converter stations for the East Anglia THREE wind project offshore eastern England.

The EPCI award is subject to the project reaching an investment decision in 2022.

This will be the second project in the East Anglia Zone, following the commissioning of East Anglia ONE in 2020.

East Anglia THREE, with a planned installed capacity of up to 1,400 MW, will form part of the 3,100-MW East Anglia Hub development.

This includes East Anglia TWO and East Anglia ONE North – the UK Planning Inspectorate is currently reviewing the respective planning applications.

ScottishPower Renewables said these projects could potentially deliver more than 7.5% of the UK’s 40-GW target for offshore wind generation by 2030.
