FREDERICIA, Denmark – Dominion Energy’s 12-MW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) pilot project is delivering power to the US grid, partner Ørsted revealed on social media.

Located 27 mi (43 km) off the coast of Virginia Beach, CVOW is the first wind farm to be approved by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and installed in US federal waters and the second in the country.

Jan De Nul’s jackup vessel Vole au vent installed the two Siemens Gamesa SWT-6.0-154 turbines, while the multi-purpose vessel Adhémar de Saint Venant performed the scour protection works.
