Murphy produces oil and natural gas from several operated and non-operated fields across more than 100 blocks in the Gulf of Mexico.

EL DORADO, ARK — Murphy Oil’s first-quarter production from the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM) averaged about 73,000 boe/d, the company said in a results update.

Highlights included drilling of the successful Khaleesi #4 well at Green Canyon 389 and repairs to subsea equipment in the Mormont #2 well (Mississippi Canyon 478), which has since returned the well to production.
Also during the quarter, Murphy’s operating partner drilled the Lucius #11 well (Keathley Canyon 919).
The company secured six exploration blocks under the GoM Federal Lease Sale 261 with an average working interest of 68%.
Its plans for later in the year include exploration wells on the Orange and Ocotillo wells in the GoM, both operated by Oxy in the Mississippi Canyon region, and the Hai Su Vang and Lac Da Hong exploration wells in Vietnam’s offshore Cuu Long Basin.

Operator Murphy holds a 40% interest in the Cuu Long Basin offshore Vietnam, with partners PetroVietnam Exploration Production (35%) and SK Earthon (25%).
