PERTH, Australia — Woodside Energy has reaffirmed its goal of taking a final investment decision this year on the deepwater Trion oilfield development offshore Mexico.
Toward the end of last year, the partners issued competitive tenders for drilling rig, subsea equipment and installation scopes for the subsea facilities, floating production unit (FPU), and the floating storage and offloading vessel.
In addition, the company received confirmation from Mexico’s National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH) that it had completed the minimum work program obligation associated with the Trion license was completed.
At Shenzi North in the US Gulf of Mexico, the project was recently 42% completed with the second development well drilled and completion operations underway. BHP is also a partner in Mad Dog Phase 2, where operator bp is working toward startup later in 2023.
Seven of the Phase 1 wells have been completed at Woodside’s deepwater Sangomar Field development, and the FPSO, built in China, is now undergoing topsides integration, pre-commissioning and commissioning in Singapore.
The project is 77% complete and should deliver first oil in late 2023.
Offshore Western Australia, the Pyrenees Phase 4 infill drilling campaign, due to complete in the current quarter, comprises one workover and one infill well and should increase recovery from the Crosby and Stickle fields.
Plugging and abandonment (P&A) continued at Enfield with four wells permanently plugged and one xmas tree removed in fourth-quarter 2022. The four-well P&A program at the offshore Balnaves Field has finished.
Pipeline manufacturing is 59% complete for the offshore Scarborough gas-condensate development, and 92% of tagged equipment has been ordered for the FPU.
Finally, the partners have opted to tie back more production wells from the Julimar-Brunello fields to Chevron’s Wheatstone under a Phase 3 development, with FID likely to follow sometime this year.
