Offshore oil and gas operators are returning to platforms and rigs in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Laura.

NEW ORLEANS – Offshore oil and gas operators are returning to platforms and rigs in the Gulf of Mexico after Hurricane Laura.  

According to the Bureau of Environmental Enforcement (BSEE), personnel remain evacuated from 257 production platforms and 10 non-DP rigs. Two DP rigs remain off location.

From operator reports, BSEE estimates that about 84.3% of the current oil production 60.1% of the natural gas production in the Gulf remains shut-in. This equates to 1,559,314 b/d of oil and 1,628 MMcf/d of gas.
