OSLO, Norway — OKEA has permission from the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) to extend the lifespan of the Draugen Field facilities in the southern Norwegian Sea until the end of 2040.
Draguen is in 250 m of water in production licenses 093, 158 and 176. Original operator Norske Shell gained approval for its plan for development and production in 1988, and it started operations five years later.
The field produces through a concrete fixed substructure and integrated topside, with platform and subsea wells. Stabilized oil is stored in tanks at the base of the facility, with oil exported via two pipelines to a floating loading-buoy.
