ABERDEEN, UK — Britain’s North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) has developed a service allowing offshore operators to submit applications for production, flaring and venting consents in a digital format.

Currently the NSTA receives about 500 consent applications per year containing detailed information.

The revised system, which incorporated feedback from the industry users, is entirely online, with a user interface designed to simplify and speed up data input. Features include inbuilt validation facilities and increased use of drop-down menus.

According to the NSTA, the process should reduce errors and the associated time spent on dialogue between applicant and the NSTA. It should also make it easier to monitor flaring and venting volumes and to ensure limits are adhered to.

Legacy portal application and consent data will be included in the new system.

The consents upgrade is due to be completed in time for the Annual Consents Exercises for Production, Flaring and Venting during August and September.
