LONDON — Viaro Energy has approval from the UK’s North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) for its farm-in to the Bressay oil field license in the East Shetland basin of the North Sea.

RockRose Energy, a subsidiary of the company, has acquired a 15% interest in the undeveloped Bressay heavy oil field and the EnQuest Producer FPSO for £46 million ($58.69 million).

Operator EnQuest has been working on an early production system development with estimated overall capex of £600 million ($765.6 million).

Viaro will now work with EnQuest to advance the development concept and field development plan for the field’s estimated 2C resources of 115 MMbbl. Current studies include a potential gas tieback to the Kraken oil field.

Chevron discovered Bressay in 1978, the field extending across blocks 3/28a, 3/27b, 3/28b, 9/2a and 9/3a in the northern UK North Sea.
