COPENHAGEN, Denmark— The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) has launched a mini tender round for oil and gas companies to apply for a permit for a new oil and gas concession in the North Sea.
It includes the Elly and Luke discoveries. Bidding will remain open until Oct. 15, 2023.
The reason for the mini round is a recent unsolicited application from Bluenord in this area. Following consultations with Denmark’s Committee on Climate, Energy and Utilities, the Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities decided to launch the process, in accordance with the Danish Underground Act's rules on mini rounds and the North Sea Agreement of December 2020.
Nordsøfonden will participate on behalf of the state in the new concession with a 20% stake, with the successful oil companies holding the remaining 80%.
