OSLO, Norway— The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) is investigating a fire on the Gina Krog platform in the North Sea.
This occurred on June 21 in a utility room in the living quarters. Equinor operates the Gina Krog field development, which came onstream in mid-2017 and exports gas to the Sleipner complex, 30 km to the southwest.
The PSA’s team, which will also support the police inquiry, will seek to identify the causes of the incident and possible learnings for sharing with the industry.
Earlier this month, Equinor issued a Letter of Award to Aker Solutions to supply the subsea production system and control umbilical for the Eirin field development in the Norwegian North Sea. This will be a subsea tieback to the Gina Krog platform via existing facilities and infrastructure.
