VIRUM, Denmark  INEOS Energy has asked Kent to perform screening studies for the carbon capture and storage (CCS) Project Greensand in Denmark.

The development will capture CO2 from various industrial emitters, which will be transported and stored in depleted hydrocarbon fields in the Siri area in the Danish North Sea.

Kent’s studies will cover the entire chain from the onshore capture sites, liquefaction, onshore storage, transportation to offshore sequestration.

Its scope includes studies to investigate transportation of CO2 and its storage potential in the depleted Nini Field, which should provide annual storage capacity in the range of 0.45 to 1.45 Mt.

The project will examine opportunities for further expansion and use of other depleted fields and adjacent aquifers in the Siri Area (Cecilie, Nini East, Stine, and Siri), which may have a storage potential of up to 8 MMt per year.
