Orcadian given more time for North Sea Pilot project preparations

Britain’s North Sea Transition Authority has approved a one-year extension to the Orcadian Energy-operated P2244 license in the UK central North Sea, containing the79-MMbbl Pilot Field.

In 1989 Fina and partners drilled the 21/27-2 well once again using the Glomar Arctic III rig. This well discovered Pilot and tested a 6-ft interval at the top of the reservoir at 80-115 bbl/day of 17ºAPI oil.

In P2244 Pilot and Harbour, located in Block 21/27a, Orcadian Energy (CNS) Ltd. holds 100% and is the operator.
LONDON – Britain’s North Sea Transition Authority has approved a one-year extension to the Orcadian Energy-operated P2244 license in the UK central North Sea, containing the79-MMbbl Pilot Field.
During 2023 Orcadian will progress work toward a possible development decision.
The company claims its concept would make Pilot’s oil production facilities among the world’s lowest in terms of carbon emissions at 2.6 kg CO2e/bbl—about one-tenth of the emissions intensity of North Sea production in 2021, it added.
