North Sea rig crew member hospitalized following crushing incident

The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority is investigating an incident onboard a jackup in the North Sea.

OSLO, Norway – The Norwegian Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) is investigating an incident onboard a jackup in the North Sea.

During work on a cantilever drag chain, a crew member on the West Linus was crushed and had to be flown by a search and rescue helicopter to Stavanger University Hospital.

This incident occurred on the Tommeliten Field, operated by ConocoPhillips. Odfjell Platform Drilling is the rig operator.

In its investigation, the PSA will seek to clarify the course of events and scope of the incident; assess its actual and potential consequences and its direct and underlying causes; identify any nonconformities and improvement points with respect to regulations; and act to correct possible regulatory breaches.
