LONDON — Britain’s North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) has begun investigating an unnamed operator, which it suspects of having breached a license condition.
It will examine whether the licensee performed a well test without consent, also failing to provide due notification that the test had been completed.
The NSTA awards oil and gas licenses with conditions that the licensee undertakes certain actions within agreed timescales, also providing information and requesting consent for actions in a timely fashion.
Depending on the results of the investigation, the suspected operator could face a fine of up to £1 million (US$1.16 million).
