OSLO, Norway— AF Offshore Decom (AFOD) has completed offshore preparation and removal campaigns for the Dunlin Alpha platform in the U.K. northern North Sea for Fairfield Energy.
More than 95% of the topsides will be recycled for reuse at AFOD’s specialist facility in Vats, Norway.
The company’s project management team and engineering department developed the removal program together with consortium partner Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC).
Earlier this spring, AFOD mobilized earlier this spring with a crew of 290 people in offshore rotation onboard HMC’s Thialf heavy-lift vesselfor the hookdown preparations.
Following completion of all offshore preparation activity, HMC’s Sleipnir removed the remaining Dunlin structures. These should be delivered to the AF Environmental Base Vats in the next few days.
