ABERDEEN, UK – The partners in the Golden Eagle, Piper and Claymore fields in the UK central North Sea have committed to export their produced oil to the Flotta Terminal on Orkney, northern Scotland through the end of field life in the 2030s.

According to Repsol Sinopec Resources UK, operator of Piper and Claymore, the decision partly reflects growth opportunities in the wider Flotta Catchment Area.

All the field owners have recently completed drilling programs to increase production volumes and are in talks with various third parties on tiebacks to the partners’ offshore facilities.

In addition, the partners are investigating the potential for an industrial scale hydrogen hub on the island of Flotta.

This would occupy a repurposed area of the existing terminal, which has been in operation since 1976, to form a green hydrogen hub powered by offshore wind projects in the seas west of Orkney.
